We have kickstarted our last organic chemistry chapter on macromolecules, learning more about addition and condensation polymerisation ADDITION & CONDENSATION POLYMERISATION (IMPORTANT POINTERS) 1. addition: alkenes as monomers, no atoms lost/gained in polymer, C-C linkage 2. condensation (polyester): acid & alcohol as monomers, small molecule like water is lost in formation of polymer, COO ester linkage 3. polymer is considered a macromolecule and have stronger intermolecular force of attraction compared to monomers
